List of Call of Duty Games in Order of Release

If there is one shooter game that everybody knows it is Call of Duty. This is a popular first-person shooter that has turned into a series. It is created by Infinity Ward and available to play on a variety of systems. Over 300 million copies of the game have been sold across the world. Let’s take a look at each of the Call of Duty games.

Call of Duty

Released in October 2003, Call of Duty was the first game released. It is based during World War II and allows players to become part of the infantry. A very popular game that leads to the release of many more.

Call of Duty 2

Two years later, Call of Duty 2 was released in October 2005. Again, this game takes place during World War II and it acts as the sequel to the first Call of Duty game. In particular, players can enjoy the perspective of Red Army, US Army and British Army forces.

 

Call of Duty 3

The third installment to the franchise was released in November 2006. While Call of Duty 3 was not released on PC, it was released on many consoles, including PlayStation and Xbox. It takes place in World War II again but bases its stories on the Polish, British, Canadian and US Army.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

The fourth game that was released was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Unlike the previous games, this is one that is not set during World War II. Instead, gamers can enjoy playing in the modern day. Modern Warfare has current weapons and it is available to play on PC and gaming consoles. It was first released in November 2007.

Call of Duty: World at War

Despite being the fifth installment, World at War actually takes a player back in time to World War II again. In particular, this game concentrates on the Pacific Theater and Eastern Front. It also is the prologue for Black Ops.

 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Just as you would expect, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to the first Modern Warfare. The story is five years after the first one and allows players to still enjoy some of their favorite characters and modern weapons. This game was first released in November 2009.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

If you like the Cold War then you are going to love playing Call of Duty: Black Ops. Of course, this game concentrates on what happened during the Cold War. It also adjusts some of the storylines and took inspiration from events in the Vietnam War.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Around two weeks after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released, work began on the third game in the series. It carries on where the story left off as World War III erupts due to fighting between the United States and Russia.

 

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

The ninth installment of Call of Duty was named Black Ops II. This was another popular game that was released in November 2012. In particular, a lot of gamers liked this release because it was the first game to include future warfare technology. In addition, player choice was incorporated into the game, which meant that there were several different endings.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

In 2013, Call of Duty: Ghosts was released as the 10th game installment. It has a single-player campaign and you can follow U.S. Special Operations units called the Ghosts. This game is set in the future and it takes place after the Middle East has been destroyed by nuclear war.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

If you enjoy the future Call of Duty storylines then we recommend Advanced Warfare. This game takes place between 2054 and 2061 and surrounds stopping North Korea from invading Seoul and several terrorist attacks around the world.

 

Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Black Ops III was released in 2015 and it is the sequel to Black Ops II. Again, this is a game that takes place in the future in 2065. You can follow black ops soldiers and see what the future has in store when there is new technology and climate change. In particular, there is a third Cold War.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

A year after the last game, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare was released. You can play as Lieutenant Nick Reyes and take part in the battle for the Solar System after the Earth has lost all of its natural resources.

Call of Duty: WWII

Call of Duty: WWII may be the fourteenth game to be released in the series but it revisits the early games that made them so popular. In particular, this game is second in World War II and focuses on the battles that took place in the European Theatre. The story surrounds the 1st Infantry Division of the United States Army and the Western Front, as well as the Battle of Normandy.

 

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Black Ops 4 introduces the opportunity to fight Zombies, which is why a lot of players choose this game. It also focuses on the multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty with exciting combat opportunities. In particular, Blackout is a battle mode that a lot of people love about this game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its storyline is about Urzikstan, which is a fictional country. In particular, players can follow a CIA and SAS team that are battling Russian forces so that Urzikstan is not taken over.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

Released in 2020, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the newest game you can purchase. This game is set in the 1980s and Cold War. When you want to play in the campaign, you can customize your character. There are several endings you can enjoy and the one you receive will depend on your choices.
